Yaspa opens Leeds tech hub to drive global iGaming payments growth

Fintech aims to hire 20 engineers to power US expansion

Yaspa, the UK-based fintech specialising in iGaming payments and identity solutions, has opened a new technology hub in Leeds to power its next phase of international expansion.

The award-winning company plans to recruit an initial team of 10 senior software engineers over the coming weeks, with the aim of doubling headcount to 20 by the end of 2025. The new hires will be tasked with building products for the US market, following Yaspa’s recent incorporation in Atlanta, Georgia.

Leadership with deep industry roots
The Leeds operation will be led by David Turner, former Head of Development at William Hill. Turner brings a wealth of experience in automated sports trading and team building, having previously scaled engineering squads at both William Hill and education platform Glean.

Technology built for iGaming’s future
Yaspa’s Intelligent Payments platform combines open banking technology with AI to give regulated operators — particularly in online gambling — the ability to meet compliance requirements, support responsible gambling, and optimise the customer payment experience in real time.

The expansion follows a $12m investment round led by Discerning Capital last month, positioning Yaspa for rapid growth into new regulated markets. The company already serves partners in the UK and Europe, and plans to accelerate its US launch with the Leeds engineering team as the “engine room” of development.

Why Leeds?
Home to major gambling brands such as Flutter Entertainment’s Sky Betting & Gaming and Evoke’s William Hill, Leeds offers a deep pool of iGaming tech talent. Yaspa’s new office, located at Platform by Bruntwood, boasts premium facilities just steps from Leeds train station.

Chief People Officer Chris Watkins said the company is aiming for a hybrid working model to maximise collaboration and culture:

“We see Leeds as the ideal location to open our second UK office, with access to top engineering talent and a strong iGaming presence. Our immediate goal is to onboard senior engineers to focus on the US product, before scaling further later in the year.”

Turner added:

“Yaspa has already proved its proposition and is now scaling. My focus will be on rapidly building high-performing squads to deliver our US ambitions while embedding best practices from day one.”

With its new hub, fresh funding, and a clear product focus, Yaspa is positioning itself as a key player in the next wave of global iGaming payments innovation.
