As Playzia continues to establish itself as one of iGaming’s most dynamic new suppliers, the company is shaping a vision that combines versatile content, and distinctive mechanics to stand out in a competitive marketplace. With regulated markets at its core, Playzia is building a portfolio designed to appeal to any player, while also innovating with fresh trademarked mechanics that push gameplay to new levels.
We sat down with Vlad Modorcea, Chief Product Officer at Playzia, to discuss the company’s strategy, its flagship Love Island releases, and how unique mechanics like the Cubicways™ trademarked mechanic in Knights 2: The Dragons Cubicways™ set Playzia apart.
Playzia often talks about building a “versatile” game portfolio. What does that mean in practice?
Vlad Modorcea: For us, versatility means that no matter who you are or what you like to play, there’s a Playzia title that feels like it was designed for you. We’re not building a one-note portfolio. We’re covering the full spectrum of themes and player tastes.
That includes everything from mythology, fantasy, and medieval adventures, to pop culture, TV shows, lifestyle themes, and even casual and social-style content. And we’re not just focused on aesthetics. We’re integrating the top 30 most popular mechanics in iGaming into our roadmap, so whether players prefer Hold & Win, Megaways™ -style reel expansions, cluster pays, jackpots, or unique mechanics, they’ll find something familiar but also excitingly different.
While the majority of our portfolio focuses on slots, we also offer a diverse range of crash, instant win, table, and probability-based games. The idea is simple: any player, any mood.
You mentioned regulated markets. How do they shape your strategy, and where does a game like Love Island Love in a Spin fit in?
Vlad Modorcea: Regulated markets are our foundation. They guarantee sustainability, long-term trust, and, most importantly, player protection. Everything we do, from certifications to compliance checks, is designed with regulated play at the heart.

Love Island – Love in a Spin is a perfect example of how we combine strong IPs with our regulated-first approach. The Love Island brand is instantly recognisable, especially with younger audiences who know it as a cultural phenomenon. By turning that into a game, we’re not only making Playzia instantly recognisable, but also creating content that bridges entertainment and iGaming in a way that feels authentic.
And as we continue to secure certifications across more markets, we’re confident Love in a Spin will become a flagship title that introduces Playzia to millions of players.
You’ve spoken about regulated markets broadly, but can you share more about specific regions?
Vlad Modorcea: Both the UK and Germany are incredibly important for us, but for very different reasons.
The UK remains one of the most competitive and mature markets in iGaming, so for Playzia it’s a proving ground. If your content can stand out in the UK, it can stand out anywhere. That’s why we’re working closely with operators there to fine-tune our portfolio for a wide range of player preferences.
Germany, on the other hand, is both challenging and exciting. The compliance requirements are very strict, but that aligns with our philosophy; we’ve built Playzia around regulated-first thinking. For us, Germany represents long-term growth, and we’re confident that our versatile portfolio will appeal to German players as the market continues to mature.
Innovation seems key to your roadmap. Can you tell us more about your unique mechanics like the Cubicways™ trademarked mechanic in Knights 2: The Dragons Cubicways™?
Vlad Modorcea: Absolutely. At Playzia, we’re not just borrowing mechanics; we’re building our own. Knights 2: The Dragons Cubicways™ is a great showcase of this, with its dynamic reel activation system and dramatic Wilds that evolve as the reels expand.

But what really makes it unique is our Cubicways™ trademarked mechanic. The grid unfolds row by row, and then it ultimately rotate itselfs to reveal a whole new “face” and progression path. When the Knight defeats the Dragon in the climactic bonus round, the game grid itself rotates. It’s not just a visual flourish; it signals a new stage of the experience, unlocking new environments, opportunities, and rewards.

This kind of mechanic is trademarked because we want to make sure it’s uniquely tied to Playzia. It’s the type of innovation that gets players talking and keeps them engaged session after session.
So, what’s next for Playzia?
Vlad Modorcea: We’re only just beginning. We’ve proven that our strategy works with TV-based IPs and iconic themes like Love Island, but our roadmap goes far beyond that. Expect more diversity in portfolio, more regulated market rollouts, and more innovations that redefine how players experience slots.
