Industry experts to outline regulatory update, licence application framework and technical compliance ahead of Finland’s 2027 market opening
Gaming in Finland will host a dedicated webinar on the Finnish iGaming licence application process and associated technical requirements, as the country prepares to open its regulated online gambling market in 2027.
From March 1, 2027, Finland’s gambling regulator will begin processing online gambling licence applications, ahead of the market’s official launch on July 1, 2027. Secondary legislation and detailed technical standards required for submitting applications are expected to be published imminently.
While the final framework has yet to be confirmed, early indications suggest that Finland’s regulatory approach will differ significantly from other Nordic markets, including Sweden and Denmark. As a result, operators and suppliers considering market entry are closely monitoring developments.
In response, Gaming in Finland will host a webinar titled “How Finland is different” on Thursday, March 5 at 14:00 CET / 15:00 EET.
The session aims to provide practical guidance shortly after the publication of the secondary legislation, offering clarity on the licence application process and technical compliance requirements.
Gaming in Finland founder Willem van Oort said:
“If you are considering entering the Finnish iGaming market, this webinar comes at a most opportune time: one or perhaps two weeks after the publication of the secondary legislation that is necessary to submit your licence application. Naturally, we are particularly grateful to our local partners for helping us make sense of the licence application process and the associated technical requirements.”
